[TheThinkTank] setting a 3-speed in #2 without cables

If you have a Sturmey Archer and it has the threaded rod with the tiny
chain, you can use a similar hack. Instead of a rock, stick a safety
pin or something narrow enough to fit between the rivets and plates of
the shift chain. Yank the chain out to the desired gear, insert the
object, and the chain will retract and hold it place next to the nut.
