I'm down. I'm a UMN grad and I am on the board of a community bike shop that just hired a full time shop manager who has 10 years experience. I'm in Columbus, IN (about 45 minutes from Indy and Bloomington, IN, about 1.5 hours from Cincy and Louisville). My husband and I are originally from south central MN, and we travel back a few times a year. We can make it happen. You'd get your own bedroom, bathroom, and half bath. One nosy cat, and one chill cat. Laundry, fridge, etc. www.bikeco-op.org - https://www.facebook.com/columbusbicyclecoop Marissa Pherson

Hello all-
I am a recent High School graduate undertaking a Gap Year this coming year. This summer I interned at a local non-profit community bike shop. If possible I would love to attend classes at UBI or Barnett's in order to form a solid understanding of bike mechanics. After taking the class, however I would want to apply my new skills in a bike shop so I wouldn't immediately forget them.
My question is this: Would any of you know a place I could work at and learn about bikes in exchange for room and board? I wouldn't need pay, just a place to stay- maybe a housing exchange or something of that sort. Ideally my "apprenticeship" would last for about a month. Please contact me with any ideas!
