Bike Bike was awesome! I can't think of a better way to spend a weekend than with a bunch of freaks who're working towards getting people on bikes.
It's hard to summarize as we all had different experiences at various workshops, conversations and rides.
Here in Boulder we've had a hard time involving the elite cyclists and mountain bikers in our coop. One of the big points I took away from the weekend came from the advocacy workshop. When organizing an event try to set up as an umbrella so other cycling groups can add their events under it. I think it was Free Ride that organized Bike Fest which was a one or two month long thing. They reached out to other groups like Bike Pittsburgh whose membership nearly doubled because of their participation in the event.
I probably have the details of this wrong but the concepts are correct.
The more we can incorporate our events with other cycling groups the
more we can work together in building bicycle culture.
We'll definitely keep this in mind when organizing future events.
