Troy,
At our shop we have a category for our long term volunteers we like to call
keylist volunteers. The keylist voulnteers have the privelege of having a
key card to the shop to have after hours access as well as be able to order
from our distributors at cost.
Aggreed upon conditions include signing a keylist contract and a mandatory
amount of volunteer time monthly. For us this ends up being about 10-15
hours per month.
As far as abusing the priveleges go, keylist volunteers are able to order
as much as they want as long as it is for themselves and not other people
or being sold. In my experience, I have had close enough contact with our
keylist volunteers to detect this sort of abuse if any. If there ever is a
problem, you could always revoke these very valuable priveleges.
