Similar in Missoula: We asked and a hospital accepted: They bought 480 helmets (minimum order I think for helmets with logos), with their logo on one side, ours on the other, donated to us, and we gave them away. This year we asked and received $500 cash for youth program.
We are also working at a fever pitch to make our roads and motorists 'safe.'
I've been looking for a non-plastic, non-fossil fuel helmet, with no luck yet except for old gladiator armor.

We recently made a connection with the hospital who now gives us as many kids helmets as we need. 300 or so over the past year.

http://www.helmetsrus.net/nonprofit/ We bought a ton of these helmets for an OTS grant and gave them away. they are about $8 shipped and work. they arent the best but they work. note, they run pretty small, so if you are giving them to adults get larges. We get a pretty good deal but the helmets are utilitarian, not trendy. But if yer talking kids, then, yer talkin' stickers. Stickers make everything cooler.
