Fantastic. BikeBike South is on. Let's not clutter up this list any further. We'll get a website and a mailing list going in the next few weeks. For now, I'll keep a list of contacts going, and feel free to give my info to anyone who might be interested! Also, if you're like organizing stuff (haha..obviously) and you'd like to help on that end, please let me know.
Thanks!! rachael

Rachael & All,
Greetings from Arkansas! We would love to attend a more local bikebike-ish conference. The AR based bike coops were planning a group trip out to Cali this summer, but with gas prices going through the roof, a regional conference would mean more of our volunteers could participate.
Be sure to keep us informed.
Thanks

Hiya, friends.
We're kicking around the idea of hosting a Southeast Regional BikeBike here in Atlanta in January. Being centrally located in the region and having a little bit of shop success, we've been hosting visitors and fielding questions from people in the very beginning stages of community bike shoppery (ranging from Columbia, SC to Savannah, GA, as well as neighborhoods around the Metro Atlanta region). We thought it would be nice to get everyone in this part of the woods together to have conversation-style workshops designed to help folks tackle the practical issues of getting started, especially within the socio-economic and political context of the South. We've got an amazing community arts center at our disposal, and it's down the street from our shop, making things awfully convenient and affordable. Food not Bombs has even agreed to help keep us fed.
This is not meant to detract from BikeBike. We could call it the Dirty South Community Bike Shop Jamboree if it needs to have a different name. We just thought it would be nice to have something designed to help folks who are just starting out and who might not be able to make it to Cali in September. Plus, we like to party.
So...if you're interested in participating, please let us know! Of course, everyone is invited.
