Chris,
I think you just volunteered to start a YouTube channel that co-ops can use as an educational tool 🙂. Maybe there is already one out there but it sounds like you're quite efficient and I wouldn't turn down your offer.

I asked if he could adjust for the compression force of the (QR) Quick Release. He said "No"I showed him how to do six hub adjustments that measured and accounted for the force of the QR in 9 seconds. I taught him how to adjust the hub for the QR force in 30 seconds. I taught him how to do a better adjustment in 1/20 or 1/30 of the time it took him to do it poorly. Yes I did do the procedure in 1/60 to 1/90 of the time it had taken him in the past. How long does it take you to adjust a hub???? Can you measure the force of the QR on your bearing? If not then it really does not matter how long you work on an overhaul, if it is not correctly adjusted for all forces. After all we are in the business to improve cyclist ride experiences,I would be happy to teach any and all of you how to be better mechanic, better advocates for cycling, and better at sales to make your programs last longer and do greater things with youth and adults. Subject: [TheThinkTank] How much time spent on overhauls?

Greetings fellow bicycle enthusiasts and all-around do-gooders,ÂWe run an earn-a-bike program, though in our program, which is relatively short in duration, the students receive a used bike which has already been reconditioned. Consequently, I am currently overhauling/refurbishing bikes for use in our fall classes.ÂMy question is… how long (# of hrs) do you typically spend on a complete bicycle overhaul? What does it include? Do you always put in new cables/housing, and do BB/headset/hub rebuilds, or just on the extra crunchy bikes?ÂThanks in advance,ÂDavidÂDavid CoppleyWalk n’ Roll Program AssistantIntercity Transit360-705-5817PO Box 659 Olympia, WA 98501ÂÂ
