Static means that you don't fetch data from a server. For example, users don't log in - the site like the same for all users. Another example: If you have a calendar of events, you update it by updating the site itself, vs the page asking the server for the list.
I know it's a subtle distinction, apologies if it's confusing.
Images, even videos are still "static" because all users see the same thing.
Basically - how was the site made?

We have the URL registered at namecheap.com. Before we renew, I'll look
at cloudflare.
What does static mean? No animated GIFs?
What are the benefits and challenges with using GitHub for hosting?
We're ok with paying for lower-cost server space, as long as it's reliable.
