I've noted Hanover is really ripe for a bike coop. There are tons of
neglected bikes there. Locked up outside and more or less forgotten by
Dartmouth students. Many students I've met have a bike which is
unrideable, or know someone who wants to give them a bike which is
unrideable. In most cases they just need air in the tires and a new
chain to be rideable again. Maybe some lube on the cables or a patched
tube.
If there was a bike coop, those students who've let their bike go to
pot over the winter could get help to get it back on the road, and
those that are leaving and don't wish to take their bike with them
could donate it to the coop instead of leaving it outside to rust.
Then others would have a good source for used bikes. With a bike coop
there I think you'd see a lot more bikes being ridden and a lot fewer
rusting into oblivion. Someone needs to start a bike coop there, and I
think a student group could easily accomplish it.

It's a lot sparser up here, but maybe I'll toss out a northern Bike! Bike! We're in Winnipeg. Maybe the Fargo-Moorhead shop and some
local shops could hook up? Maybe we could extend to Calgary?
Minneapolis? Further? Who knows, maybe we can get something going. macho http://bike-dump.ca andrew L. wrote:I would love to be at BikeBike this year personally (and

I wonder if spring time should not bring a Northeast version ??I still think an annual national conference is important, but
regional meetups could be more bike-to-able destinations that more
collective members and volunteers could more easily attend.just throwing this idea out, and could have missed a previous

I'm looking for people interested in forming a New Hampshire

nascent but the need is there. To the best of my knowledge to closest bike collectives are in Boston but there is a lot of potential to
start something both good and fun here. Drop a line to the ThinkTank
if interested. There is currently no specific time frame and I'm
more interested in substance than speed. Looking forward to hearing from ... well ... anyone.
