Hi there,
My name is Zack Furness and I am Assistant Professor of Cultural Studies at Columbia College Chicago. I've spent the better part of the last six years doing research on bike activism & car culture, and I'm proud to announce the publication of my book, entitled One Less Car: Bicycling and the Politics of Automobility (Temple University Press, 2010). I am trying to promote the book as much as possible through community bicycle organizations and DIY bike collectives because I'm a strong supporter of their work, and in particular, their grassroots approach to pedal-powered transportation, recycling, and community building. For this reason, 100% of the royalties I make from the book will be donated to community bike projects in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (my hometown) and Chicago, Illinois (my current home).
If you are interested, you can find the book through a variety of independent bookstores and online distributors, such as AK Press (a worker-owned cooperative that specializes in radical political literature):

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and please feel free to forward this email to anyone who might be interested!
Best regards,
zack
