Just some thoughts:

- Some of these accommodation options (e.g. AirBnB) can be pretty pricey. I also see question marks around food, stipends and other resources to support exchange mechanics. Has there been any effort towards making template budgets for these items to help host shops determine costs?

- Has there been any thought about work permits (or similar) for international exchanges? Are there alternatives, such as internship-type programs?

All good points.

Here is an idea of what the Exchange experience could be like in a manner that takes it beyond the mailing list, gives it a space on bikecollectives.org as a link and an explanation.

How to make it sustainable?

This sounds great! That kind of vacancy would be perfect.

But again, a primary missing device here is a consistent and sustainable
way to post availability in both directions.

Doing it informally, i.e. just by habitualizing it as a mailing list
thing, can be easy, but also easily atrophy, with new members of the
community completely unaware it was ever a practice or possibility.

Understood re: Godwin. I'd prefer to wait for their attention and do it
via bikecollectives.org. Is there a way to get word back if it can get
on their itinerary, even if only at some distant future point?
