I was interested to see the link to Utah Tire Recycler on that page. It looks like that is Liberty Tire Recycling[1]. They happen to have a location in Utah. There are a few other locations in the US but AFAICT nothing in Alaska. In fact, Utah is the closest thing on the West Coast. Maybe they'll open something closer some day. I'd be interested to see how the separate the thread and metal from the rubber.
You should be careful in taking used rubber to "tire recyclers". A lot of them don't do any recycling but instead should be called "tire disposers". They often end up in landfills after some compaction (non-shredded tires take up too much space).
