KiaOra, Chris.  Good luck starting a community bicycle shop.  As a guy who runs a shop and who visited Rotorua recently, I see lots of potential there for one.  The road system would be very friendly to bicycle commuters, as long as you stay upwind of the geysers and such.  I also see potential for some bicycle-based tourism.  My wife and I traveled by car from Wellington over to Wairoa, up to Rotorua, then back to Wellington by way of Waioru.  We'd love to do it again by bicycle.  The countryside is magnificent.

good luck!

KiaOra -

My name is Chris and I live in Rotorua, New Zealand. I have been a member of the BikeThinkTank for ~ 2 months. I do not work for a Community Bike Shop, however i am pushing to start one here. Meanwhile i cook up about a bike / month in my own bike kitchen. I really enjoy the posts from this list and appreciate the wealth of knowledge and different perspectives connected through this forum.

with regards,
Chris

ps: KiaOra is Maori for hello (and thank you)

Subject: [TheThinkTank] Bike Talk Radio - What to do with the nice stuff?

Hello,

The crew here at Bike Talk radio have been following your discussion about what to do with the nice stuff that is donated to the collectives. We would like to recap and share this discussion on our show this weekend. Would anyone be interested in calling in this Saturday morning and sharing your thoughts?

We would like to present a wide range of viewpoints - so basically the more people we hear from the better. We can arrange to call you if that works. Please send me an email if you are interested and please include your name (and how to pronounce it if needed) and a phone number where we can reach you Saturday morning between 10 and noon Pacific Time.

Be prepared to tell us about your collective as well. We want to help spread the word.

Best regards,
Brad Gavigan
