Subject: Re: [TheThinkTank] outdoor tool stationsYes the Dero product is similar to what I have seen. If I were going to design one, it would be like this. You indicated semi- portability. I would use a heavy base, such as a truck rim and an upright member set in concrete. Attach a pair of wheels from a hand truck/dolly to an axle welded to the back side so that it could tipped and pulled into the shop. Weld a member at 90 degrees (parallel to the ground) at the top of the upright member. Now you have a gallows shape. On the end of this second member, weld a 3rd member to form a tee. Put in hardware so that one can suspend a bike from the "tee" member. Attach selected basic essential tools to lengths of chain or aircraft cable. Fabricate and weld a tool rack that the tools are attached to and stored in. Weld the rack to the upright member. As far as air supply, if the upright is of a large diameter, it could be hermetically constructed to serve as an air tank. A heavy tube could be fabricated into a pump and welded to the base. (Dero donated it to us when we were just starting up--it was their discontinued model THANK YOU DERO!!!!) We put a roof over it and a light above it. It is available 7/24 all year (we do shovel the snow for easy access). No security cameras or anything. In an industrial area on a route to a major bike trail to downtown Minneapolis.We have had minimal vandalism. For about the first 15 months, the only vandalism was some kid coming by and braiding the cables together. This winter we lost two tools (cables were cut).
