1) The Kelley Blue Book for cars is also affected by region too. We have a
unique issue because to keep our shop from getting too full we sell the
bikes for next to nothing, or give them away to people who have a letter
from a good will agency, just so they don't start stacking up. Working
Bikes in Chicago is a great example of an organization who makes their
margins in quantity.

We have and will continue to do so. Big race in Wilmington last year,
we parked about 200 bikes...It was a bit of a mess (most of these
bikes parked in a half hour immediately following a bike parade) but
our first time and plenty to be learned from the experience.
It get's your name out, people are very appreciative for not having to
lock up, some even throw a few bucks in the donation jar. We stapled
a piece of paper to each bike with information about our organization
and got lots of people emailing after the event.
We had a small "town square" type deal cordoned off and bikes were
parked with kickstands or leaned against trees/walls. Bikes were
tagged with a door hang type thing, the person parking got a small
piece of paper with a matching number that rips off the bottom (will
post a picture to the wiki when i can). I recommend against using
this system in the future because the door hangs are not very solidly
attached and fall off fairly easily.
There was no waiver form filled out (no time at all to fill out and
lines of 30-50 people waiting to park even without the waiver).
I believe we had 10 of us working the event and it got very hectic.
Ideally there would be 1-2 people just tagging bikes and 3-5 people
collecting the bikes at the entrance and parking them. For slower
volumes you can probably get away with less. We did have a problem
with people wandering in (friends or otherwise) to park or get their
bike on their own. I'd suggest volunteers wear identifying shirts
(different than shirts you may sell to the general public) to make
sure people are where they should be.
We also provided bike safety checks for people that were interested.
