I was surprised at some of the discounts offered to volunteers.  We always do what we can to reward our more active volunteers but I try to avoid the risk of taking business away from retail shops.  If someone volunteers for 20 hours and you sell them something at cost that should be $400, you have paid them $10 an hour in a round about sort of way.<br>
