I iron  one place I spent a lot of time had one, but I don't recall  what was done with it.  Donations category on the register code, occasionally change bills, keep an eye on cash near register, etc.  They were drinkers and partiers,  I am not, so maybe a fund for that.

Another place with a lot of twenty some things has keggers for fundraising,to muchsuccess, afaict.  Never went toone.

Any etoh, I don't go.  Bicycle film festival with a vodka company sponsoring, I went the three or so years when it was in DC, but none served on site, iirc.  Maybe Gala bar.
They went out after, I tired and not a drinker,  went home.

Movie night at a bar, I just ate well.

Any place I go where beer fund tip jar I typically lectured nauseum and don't contribute saying I cannot ethically support the activity.

Biked the devil's triangle (cgoab history) DC to Baltimore yesterday, 50+ miles, mostly on rt1, and while sore and tired, bragging, slightly.  As much or more than my years, my new goal.

The only time we have ever had a "tip jar" at Bike Pirates is as the bar at events. The money goes with all the other money from that night - usually a fundraiser for some organization. And we are clear about that if people ask.

Occasionally a patron who has a super experience will try to tip the volunteer who helped them and (as far as I know) that money is always just put into out money box with their donation.

We have as part of our policy and shop handbook a guideline that no one shall profit from use of our space (mostly out of concern related to patrons using us as a "personal workshop", flipping bikes, etc.) But this also applies to volunteers.

If course we will always accept if someone wants to buy us coffee ;)
