I think it's more of a practical issue for many smaller shops- the summer bike season is in full swing and it seems counter-intuitive to have a gathering right
in the middle of the summer, when people are pretty busy in their own communities. Smaller shops usually have less volunteers as well to handle logistics when some
are gone. Best to have it as a celebration to end/start the season when shops are less busy.

either way, Bike!Bike! is such an important learning and sharing and growing experience that smaller shops especially should weigh the benefits of attending, even if it means they have to close for a few days.
