If you have apartment buildings nearby most of their bike rooms /
basement storage are overrun with bikes, many of which have long been
abandoned. In this case you probably don't want to just stick a flyer
on their door but could contact building management or the super and
give to or mail them one.
(We're so overrun with bikes we even stopped printing our brochure a
few years back...)

a tip i learned from trying unsuccessfully to reuse/modify flyer
designs:if you design the flyer so that most of the generic, repeating info
("bike mechanics class", "bikes for sale!", "Earn-a-bike!") is all
in one part of the flyer, and the specifics ("at our shop", "Friday,
September 12, 2011", "$15 at the door") in another place, you can
easily reuse the flyer by changing just the details. works about the same whether you're modifying a digital file to be
printed, or using the copier with an updated "slice" pasted over the
original.On Sun, Sep 4, 2011 at 12:15 PM, Ryan Feller ryan@bikebroward.org

We have had tremendous success sending a letter to area churches and asking them to include the request in their church bulletin and/or announce it during their services. This always generates an up-
tick in
donated bikes.

Hi all! My collective is planning to make 8-1/2 x 11" (or similar
size)
flyer to post on public bulletin boards and publicize that we
collect
bicycles and put them to good use. I know at least some other bike collectives use flyers, and it'd be super helpful to see what
works and
what doesn't in terms of design and what we should say. Would
anyone be
willing to scan and send over a couple?
Thank you!
