Folks -
I rescue, repair, and donate bikes in Southern New Hampshire. I often get single speed kids' bikes that do not have chainguards. I am afraid that single speed bikes without a chainguard are a potentially unsafe for a younger rider and I will not give them out. So I have 2 questions:
- Does anyone know of a good source of kid sized aftermarket universal chainguards?
- Am I being too paranoid? I realize that the kids that get these bikes or their parents can remove the chainguards any time in the future and probably will remove them if they get bent or misaligned. On the other hand, it would only take a second to lose a finger if a kid were to put a finger into a chain ring - I have a scar from a tandem timing chain/chainring that I inadvertently got caught in and it does not take much to cause real damage.
Thanks for any advise or suggestions.
Regards,
JB
