Hey all,
My name is Henri and I'm working with Bike Newport (RI) to create a bike
garage that is more accessible to diverse populations. I would like a bike
mechanics checklist for volunteers to use as they're working on our bikes.
Something that lists most of the required tasks and that they can just move
through on their way to getting it road worthy.
If you have anything like this I'd appreciate it if you sent it our way!
Best,
Henri Venable

Hey Henri,
We hand out a couple laminated copies of the attached documents during our
volunteer nights. One is intended to be used as a checklist for builds, and
the other walks volunteers through the process of stripping a bike.
Hope that helps!
Happy riding,
aida

Hello,
I'm writing from Bikes del Pueblo in San Diego. We've been a volunteer run
pop-up / mobile bike kitchen for many years with no public storefront.
California Bike Coalition has approached us with the possibility of support
for finally getting that space. In preparing for our meeting with them, I
wanted an idea of what it cost for similar projects to get started.
Can folks who have the numbers shoot me a message with how much it cost to
get their spaces set up (including insurance) as well as how much it took
to operate the space in the first few years? What were the primary
components of your budget? These examples would help me paint a picture of
what we could create in San Diego.
We have been operating on a very small scale, limited storage space, and
volunteer staff so it is hard to estimate how "big" we could be if we had
support to make this leap.
Many thanks,
Hoai Vi Nguyen

We would love this kind of info for the NY Mechanical Gardens too!
