I'm writing from Bikes del Pueblo in San Diego. We've been a volunteer run pop-up / mobile bike kitchen for many years with no public storefront. California Bike Coalition has approached us with the possibility of support for finally getting that space. In preparing for our meeting with them, I wanted an idea of what it cost for similar projects to get started.
Can folks who have the numbers shoot me a message with how much it cost to get their spaces set up (including insurance) as well as how much it took to operate the space in the first few years? What were the primary components of your budget? These examples would help me paint a picture of what we could create in San Diego.
We have been operating on a very small scale, limited storage space, and volunteer staff so it is hard to estimate how "big" we could be if we had support to make this leap.
