if the event isn't too huge traffic wise you can do it like this:

for more bikes/less space, flip them over and do this:

hi, Scott.

we did just this. rented barricades and set them up upside down for a ride/bike valey. used Highway Technology to rent them from. they deliver them onsite and pick them up. the trick is to have them install them UPSIDE DOWN. have someone on site when they deliver them and insist that they set them up upside down, zig zag style, so they hold themselves up.

Mike.Holt@hwy-tech.com was my contact when we did this before. i think they're in Longmont or Loveland or somewhere.

their price is based on the amount of time you'll need them as well as how many barricades you'll need.

I’ve set up miles of barricades used for concerts, races and other events that could serve as bicycle rack.  You might want to call a fencing and barricade company.

Subject: [TheThinkTank] Event Bike Rack Rentals

Hi all!

We are putting on a big event here in Colorado in June and are looking for vendors that rent bike racks.  We have made enough of our own for 1,000 or so which we use for our bike valets, etc., but would prefer to borrow (or rent) some for this event and not have to maintain storage for them over the year.

Any thoughts, sources?

Thanks,
