Thanks for sharing that. I looked through the listings. It's a lot of stuff and most affect very small numbers of actual products. Which makes it's very difficult to incorporate it watching for the recalls as a standard practice. Has anyone put together a list of the most relevant recalls to watch out for?
Thanks!

Kevin,
Thanks!
I actually subscribed to alerts https://www.cpsc.gov/Newsroom/Subscribe years ago for recalls related to sports/outdoors from the CSPC, but current recalls rarely impact the older bicycles we tend to receive/fix/donate/sell. Thankfully the site has a deep archive.
My curiosity is to learn how other orgs distribute knowledge and implement checks for such recalls, if any do. I think printing/posting a few in a shop can be helpful, but once it becomes more than a handful, I think a pile will be ignored. We have only a few people who do final QC checks on our bikes, and so they've been my first priority to inform.

Hi All-
This is a great question. The CSPC has a website with a surprisingly in-depth list of bicycle recalls. Search results are downloadable in CSV format. https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls However, search results, especially for older bicycle products are somewhat incomplete when searched with only the term "bicycle" (does not yield the Scott fork in the database).
In answer to your question, perhaps printing and posting the merged, abridged and updated list for mechanics to reference periodically? Alternatively, a mechanic or other staff could review the bikes in batches to ensure that they and their parts are not listed? Maybe both are good ideas with a special emphasis on recalls due to safety and which pose a grave danger (identified via highlighting?).
Thanks to everyone for their great work!

How often do you all check for recalled items on the old bikes?
Been seeing these recalled Shimano cranks show up on bikes we've taken in recently: https://www.facebook.com/bikex.org/posts/1425107737695385
Since finding 3 pairs in two months, I printed the recall notice images and put them in the shop to help others find them. Thankfully Shimano is still replacing them.
I also have been looking out for recalled Suntour forks https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2014/scott-trek-recall-bicycles-with-sr-suntour-front-forks, but haven't seen one yet.
What else do you guys check for? Do you see anything often? How do you educate staff/volunteers on such recalls?
Thanks, A
