<br></div><div>It&#39;s not precisely a valet service, though. We just provide the bike racks (similar to <a href="http://www.racesmith.com/triathlonbikerack.html">these</a> -- relatively light and easy to transport by bike trailer) and someone to sit next to the racks. We only give paired-tickets to people that come without any kind of lock. We also usually have a mechanic or two on hand at the busier events, to do minor repairs and tune-ups. We bring portable repair stands and tools for this.</div>

<div><br></div><div>All of our mechanics and monitors are volunteers, and we&#39;re never paid to be at any events (although we do collect modest donations at some bike parking events).</div><div><br></div><div><div>(The Edmonton Folk Music Festival also does their own free bike parking, which also expects you to bring your own lock and park your bike yourself, but gives tickets to everyone that comes in, and volunteers check your ticket against your bike&#39;s ticket on the way out.  Calgary Folk Fest works the same way.)</div>

<br></div><div>The bicycle coalition here (<a href="http://www.slobikelane.org" target="_blank">www.slobikelane.org</a> again) runs both the local bike kitchen and valet programs.  We don&#39;t currently combine wrenching and valet, but discuss it all the time!  During bike month we had mechanics inspect all bikes coming through valet and inform people of the problems, that felt really good, but didn&#39;t get the problems directly fixed.</div>

<br>Here in SC it is most reliable at the farmer&#39;s market (where I currently get paid to do it -- oogle bikes, chat w/ cyclists, eat veges; pretty rad).<br>I know that the San Francisco Bike Coalition does a lot of this on an event-to-event basis. <br>
