I would go one of two approaches. Either tack on to another organisation and work through them for financing and stuff, or just get some of the basic tools a stand and some basic knowledge (to the internet!).If you do the later be sure that you have a regular time and place that you are meeting, like monday/wed 4pm at the elementary school parking lot. eventually people will start helping put and the project will gain traction.the tacking on to another organisation is great for starting up but with already established entities there is much bureaucracy already in the mix.just my thoughts--On 15 August 2012 09:15, Affordable Bikes Re-Cyclery <affordablebikesrecyclery@gmail.com> wrote:
No great wisdom to share -- we are just starting out ourselves -- but engaging at-risk kids is a big part of our motivation! Check out westtownbikes.org -- they are a big inspiration to us. _______________________________________________Hi there,
I work with at-risk youth in a rural northern community and yesterday as I was tossing my sea foam green toilet at the dump I saw at least 6 bikes. I have been looking for something to engage some of my kids and I started thinking about bike-cycling/community shops etc. I feel that this is a really worthwhile project I just have no idea how to go about starting off – so I am looking for support – I am going to check the lists and see what advice is there, then I am going to start networking within my community. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated!
