Hello,
Th Bicycle Kitchen/La Bicicocina in Los Angeles just submitted a bid
on a building that was accepted, so hopefully, into escrow we go...
As part of my final duties as the Operations Facilitator, a paid staff
position I held for two years, I helped to coordinate the efforts of
the Space Exploration Gruppo. We broke it down into three
components: Real Estate, Mortgage/Financing and Fundraising/
Development. As the Cooks decided to go back to being all-volunteer
run, instead of submitting a request to the foundation that had paid
my salary to further fund the Ops Fac, we asked for funding towards a
capital campaign. They awarded us $100,000! Additionally, after a
lot of denials from banks/lenders, we were able to find a lender
willing to loan us up to $390,000. We have also put together an
appeal letter to try and raise monies so that we can bring that
mortgage down. Looking for a commercial property in central Los
Angeles puts almost a couple of more zeroes into that Troy price. ; )
I would be happy to offer any advice I can and/or look over letters,
grants, etc.
It's really great to see this next evolution for some of us that are
able.
Best of luck!
Sincerely,
Kelly On Feb 13, 2012, at 11:31 AM, ryan jenkins wrote:
Me and Andrew of Troy Bike Rescue purchased a forclosed on building
here in Troy for 5,000 dollars at auction, and then sold it to the
organization as a 501c3. I don't know how we compare in size to all
yall, but if any of my experience is of interest let me know as i
would love to help.ryan www.troybikerescue.net

be more than happy to lend a hand any way we can.On Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 8:31 AM, Doug cuttercrew@gmail.com wrote: The Fort Collins Bike Co-op is considering starting a capital
fundraising campaign to raise money toward the purchase of our own
permanent location. Like many community shops we have bounced
around every couple years trying to find inexpensive or free rent.
Our present location is currently slated for development into
student housing, so our days are numbered there. Moving and then
reorganizing consumes alot of our volunteer bandwidth and makes it
more difficult for our customers to find us.If your organization has run a fundraising campaign please share any
advice and I'll put your name on a list to contact with more
specific questions as we proceed.Thank you in advance, Doug Cutter President Fort Collins Bike Co-op
