yep I wash them in Tide free. It is a pure detergent cleans great, Seldom do I have to wipe out the washing machine drum.

I don't know, but was wondering the same thing as we have the same issue. I'm 
thinking maybe wash on hot with bleach, and maybe some citrus based solvent, but 
I'm worried about gunking up my washing machine. Anyone have any firsthand
