hey, donald here wrighting from tucson!  at Bicas we do not do back ground checks nor finger print cards when hiring new staff and facilitators or gathering volunteers.  the only time that comes in to play that ive experienced is when we go to a school or other organization upon request. We just set up an after school program(that will take place at the school) last week where were asking all staff who wants to be involved to get a fingerprint card.   donald

You should opt for the child molestation coverage with your insurance company and ask them what background checks they recommend.

this is something i've been meaning to talk with our shop members about, since i'm involved in the kid's program(s), but how do some of you handle background checks/interviews with shop employees, volunteers, or facilitators who work with kids? what about those who don't work with kids? any background checks at all for them?
