Yup. We started using them after a rash of thefts from the till. Combined with a stricter cash procedure and a new till, the thefts stopped.
Since installing them we have used them to clear suspicions of theft, and to make a hilarious time lapse video of our renovation project.
to address privacy concerns we have a rule that in order to view the recorded footage (as opposed to live footage, which the person at the front desk can see at any time) you have to inform someone on the board, and they must make note of why the footage was accessed at their next board meeting. Thus making the whole thing public record. the machine is password protected and keeps logs of accessed it, and when.
The procedural paperwork has been enough of a pain, that the footage is not used lightly. but accessible enough that everyone knows its there if they need it.
