Unfortunately, these days moderating new subscriptions makes good sense.
  We experienced the same spam attack at the Wiki.  First it started as a
trickle, then they played games with us, but eventually it turned into a
flood, 1000 times worst then just what happened with this list.

We do have recaptcha implemented, but spammers are now gaining an
advantage because of AI.  That is the new world we now live in. 
However, thankfully bike collectives are managed by humans!
