Laminate flooring in your showroom?
Hey All, We're going to be receiving a nice chunk of change for shop renovations this year. This will allow us to build a loft, upgrade the HVAC, install some windows and other cool projects. I'm considering using laminate flooring in the showroom.
I've lived in houses with laminate flooring for many years and have found it to be quite durable. However I'm not sure how it would hold up in high traffic situations like the showroom.
Do any of you have experience with this? How about alternative floor coverings?
Thx
Rich,
Last Feb we installed our new 650 sq ft shop with "Diamondtrax" flooring tiles from Swisstrax (www.swisstrax.com). They have many tiling options, including a recycled rubber tile. We had to cover the existing ceramic tile floor with something to avoid tile breakage, spill damage, etc., and the epoxy-type coverings, as well as other tile company options, were less environmentally kind and more expensive. The install was very easy and straightforward, and we are very satisfied with it; and happy to share lessons and details if you are interested...

Consider Marmoleum. It is a commercial grade product. Unlike vinyl or laminate flooring, the pigment extends all the way through the product (it is sandable). It is a largely natural product, made principally of wood pulp.
