Re: [TheThinkTank] SalesForce for non profits
We use it and appreciate its power. A bit confusing for database newbies but once you get the SF way of doing things smooth sailing. Love the Mailchimp integration, still looking for PayPal integration (free). Flexible, we use it to track volunteer hours, using notes field we track earn a bike credits. Not perfect but free. We have a pro bono consultant working with us to help with all the details. It can't be all that bad, right?

At the AMS Bike Co-op/Bike Kitchen we started using CiviCRM a while ago, which is like Salesforce but targetted at non-profits. The city bike advocacy organization (HUB cycling) was already using it too.
Unfortunately it's quite overkill for a small organization, and though it's Free and Open Source, we had to rely on outside developers to get things working, so it was still expensive. You'll have to ask the people currently involved (moved away a year ago), but IIRC it was functional and useful, but definitely expensive for what you get.
