We considered this fairly extensively, including drafting a few designs and pricing the parts/toold/time to put it together. We found that it was MUCH simpler and about the same cost to get a Fixit Station from Dero. When I approached the Transportation Demand Management Planner for the City and told her about the project, they were actually really supportive of the idea--Peterborough now has four Fixit stations which were purchased by the city and our shop is paid by the city to maintain them!

That said, the vast majority of people using the station use the pump. We have had many problems with the Dero pumps and actually just replaced them with the outdoor gauged pumps from Fixtation. So far, we are really pleased and they work very well. I would highly suggest rallying the extra cash and just investing in a professionally made repair stand and pump. http://www.bikefixtation.com/
