Hello people. We are looking to implement some bike parking on campus but we just got the news that we won't be able to have the inverted U on stainless steel so we are looking for any insides on what kinf of material doesn't require a lot of maintance and can resist a lot of heavy use, the idea is to keep the inverted U's since are the once that we consider more reliable on securing the bikes. Any thoughts? Experiences?

hi Raquel, stainless is high dollar. the most durable option is hot dipped galvanized. if not that, then powder coated is durable too. in the 90's I had a job installing racks in Austin, tx and we installed the inverted u's that were powder coated. each leg had a flange with 4 bolt holes and they had to go into concrete with anchor bolts. asphalt is too soft, especially in the summer heat. -dave baker the bike works, silver city, new mexico

What about galvanized/powder coated steel? Should last pretty long (you might see corrosion at the welds, depending on construction).
