I'm a new start up, working on defining our 'earn-a-bike' program. We will require service hours and I would like to do some required bicycle safety training as part of the program. Wondering if anyone can help me know what safety training materials you may use, and if :
Are there standardized training materials I can get my hands on?
Resources to get booklets or handouts?
Good web resources to use?
Thanks in advance,

The most common standard training that I know of is done thru the League of American Bicyclists. look them up on the internet for more.

Hi Aaron,
Not sure exactly what you are looking for. Our website has a link to our Volunteer Blog that has a variety of materials and links to address various topics including mentoring, bike repair with kids, risk management and safe cycling. Our website might be down today since we are transferring to a new host.
Take care,
Andy

"Tools for Life" is a start up guide to creating a youth bike education site, including an Earn-A-Bike program. "One Revolution at a Time" is a guide to starting a youth bike riding program. Both are available to view, download, and print on Recycle-A-Bicycle's website: http://www.recycleabicycle.org/youth-programs They are located under "Publications" in the bottom left of the page. Best of luck with your project, Aaron!
Best, Pasqualina

Hello everybody,
Thank you for all the help that you provide daily, there are so many things that I have learned.
There is a similar program that I am just starting but it is for
adults. This is set up in conjunction with a Welfare to Work program.
Many are new to the US that are working on learning the English language
and bike mechanics. What may be the most helpful to me at this point is
a basic teaching guide. The only one that i know of is the Park Tool
Instructor's Guide to the Park Tool School- second edition. It is good
but I would like to know if there are any additional resources online.
