So we recieved an email from the folks who created a bicycle documentary entitled Veer. http://www.veerthemovie.com They are offereing the film to bicycling organizations to use for fundraiser screenings. Since we have a local theatre that is down with our cause, and willing to let us use the theatre, we're considering showing this film.
Does anyone have any experiance with the film? We're wondering if anyone has seen it, what they think, and if its something they would be comfortable hosting a screening of as a fundraiser for their shop. Has anyone done or been to a screening of this film, and if so how was the turnout and reception? Thanks!

Davis BIcycles! put on a fundraiser for the new Davis Bicycle Collective (aka Bike Forth) with Veer at our local theatre.. It was very popular. I was supposed to go, but then there was the Prop 8 protest instead. Don't know how much they raised, but it was probably not insignificant.

there was a screening in albany, ny. it was not specifically a benefit for Troy Bike Rescue, but a bunch of folks here saw the film. I think it is great! there are 'pieces' of the whole bike culture missing, but as far as getting people excited about the emerging cycling culture, it is a very well-done film. there has been some criticism of the amount of focus on the Sprockettes bike dance troupe from female friends, in thinking that there c/should have been a broader representation of women in the cycling movement... but it is worth seeing and i would say useful as a fundraising tool...
as a filmmaker (a co-director of still we ride), i also think its a great way of grassroots distribution. we also offered up Still We Ride to groups as fundraisers back in 2005/6, and a lot of poeple saw it as a result and i think the community screenings affected our online DVD sales. anyways. happy to hear the this is going on. we didnt have a great turnout, and have been contemplating organizing another screening later in the summer.
