Hi… Does your co-op host group rides? Are they of the relaxed urban social ride style? Did you host them this year also?
Our gang has been hosting rides this year. We talk about distancing before each ride and mention it again at traffic stops and at our social stop.
Do you have a basic way that you lead rides? Do you find it to be obvious and that many ppl can lead such rides? Or have you worked out a detailed, nuanced method and find that there’s a ride leader skill that’s important.
I’ve led 200+ riders over 10 yrs but am backing off lately. I’m noticing that new ride hosts often make choices that create friction moments that seem to effect our safety, popularity (among riders and among drivers we encounter) and our mellow vibe.
Also, our local rides have been almost entirely SEPARATE from our co-op even though they mostly all start from the co-op parking lot! Slightly odd vibe that I wonder about. The co-op used to host its own occasional ride — with almost totally different riders! Like 5% overlap. I’ve never seen or heard of such a dynamic and it’s baffling to me.
