Re: [TheThinkTank] Logical Work Flow and Bike Tags
Hi David,
We use the attached form for volunteer projects, a staff mechanic always does a once over after the build is finished. We always check if the seatpost is stuck before starting a build!
Another think that we have found really helpful is that B!KE also has a color code system on bike tags. We print on a five pack of color paper and each color means something: Orange, as is bike; Green, refurbished bike; Yellow, bike in progress; Pink, members bike (not for sale); Purple, EAB project (not for sale).
Hope that helps!
Best, Tegan
For a general order, I like: Frame inspection, seat post and stem not frozen, steering tube/headset. If you are going to lube the BB, do it now. After this everything else is a bolt on and can be replaced if the bike is worth it. Tires/inflation holds/ wheel straight enough to set brakes. Brakes, Shifters/brake leavers, cables. Crank arm/pedals, chain Derailleurs
Use a check list.
