Hi guys,
I've been wondering about welding.
I'm an ok welder. I can get the job done. I'm ok when things are set up for me in a class setting, but haven't worked outside that; and standing in big stores trying to figure out what gear to buy really confuses me.
I do have access to sheds and experienced friends who would support me; and in my community setting if I was pretty confident with setting that up I'd probably get good support (especially if I was doing something that could benefit everyone).
When I stared thinking about it, there's a million questions around welding set up I'd like to ask the ThinkTank. Do you think you could help me answer these?
Questions I have:
-Set up and materials needed, -Hardware- i.e. buildings, power input, flooring, etc -Preferences for different materials or machines -Experience- show and tell of really good bike shop welding; especially any frames anyone has built they're proud of
All much appreciated guys!

Start with brazing, or silver solder learn how to play with heat with confidence before you start creating welds

Also, another great online resource for general welding is Welding Tips & Tricks. This fellow Jody is an ace welder and releases videos on technique, prep, equipment, and anything related. It is not bike specific, but a super informative resource for MIG, TIG, & stick welding. -Dave Bikebaker
