hello!
has anyone ever biked or spent time in costa rica? i am looking for DIY and bike adventures for a trip there in late july/early august. i found an org called Bici Rehab, which seems to be a community bike space, or at least project. has anyone ever heard of Bici Rehab?

She had ridden through mexico and Central America and is in Panama heading towards Columbia. I think she is getting scared as she is running low on cash so words of encouragement would be helpful. We rode from SF to Detroit 3 years ago together, I stayed here and started a bike shop and radical community. She is exploring the world.

I dont have any experience of my own but have forwarded your email to a couple of friends that have toured through that part of the world as well as one of our volunteers who grew up in Costa Rica and just moved to Atlanta.
La Ruta is a legendary mountain bike race, you might be able to get some maps of the route to ride from town to town. I've heard that it's mostly a gravel grinder, suitable for touring or cross bikes but that there is the occasional singletrack where a mountain bike might be more comfortable. http://adventurerace.com/la-ruta-mtb/
Hope this helps!
