At brw we have suggested prices for most items i.e. less than or equal to $4 for rear derailleurs in the bin. For fancier parts we look up market value (as judged by completed sales on eBay) and generally cut that price in half. We have a policy that used parts aren't sold unless being put on a bike. He enforcement of this policy is at the discretion of those on hand at the shop at the time. We prefer to have parts available for folks we know need them to get their bikes working and hoarders/pickers tend to take the most needed parts if they can. We have a full sliding scale on used parts as well.

Hi!
I'm emailing from La Bikery Co-operative in Moncton, NB.
We're in the middle of some discussions about pricing out our used/pre-loved parts, and are looking for some feedback from other co-ops and community shops! What have you done? What works? What doesn't? What has community reaction been to pricing vs. by-donation vs. free used parts?
Any feedback helps! Thanks a lot.

Interesting that the Bikefarm sells "Underwear" and for the same price as a tube! Get many donations?

Ha,
I forgot that was on there.
The undies were left overs from a bicycle friendly clothing designer, a random donation. They actually sold a lot in our first year! Alas, that was 6 years ago, we have no more underwear. We should probably update our pricing guide.
