Has a date been set for next year's conference? If so , we would like to include it on our Babes of Bike Saviours 2011 calendar which is going to print in the next week or so. Tantalizing promotional photos coming soon...
Has any thought been given to moving the date to a time of year this is not so busy for most of the shops?

i'm sure i'm not the only one who would love to learn about the process/cost (in time, money, energy) of putting this together and selling it. any experiences you feel like sharing, Allison? Things you learned, would do differently, all that?
I will let the others speak for their own interest in the calenders and/or the tantalizing promotional photos. i, for one, am excited.
Hope you're well.

Hey everybody! Bike! Bike! 2011 is being held in San Marcos, Texas; hosted by The Bike Cave and The San Marcos Community Bike Project. It will take place June 23 - 26 (2011, of course). More info as we make it! You can also e-mail us at bikebike2011 (at) gmail (dot) com if you have questions.
on another note: Does anyone remember thee website of naked (mostly and usually with discreet placement o' bicycles) boys doing trackstands? It was some woman's retort to internet porn, and it was pretty awesome while it lasted (think it got too popular and overloaded her free bandwidth)...
Any chance of moving it to any time between Oct - Feb? The last week of June is our busiest time of the year.
It'd be good to go to Bike! Bike! when our shop is in the "off season".
We truly value Bike! Bike! and want to attend but a June date makes it impossible.

^ Same here.
One of the reasons we haven't attended the national Bike!Bike! conference the past few years is because up through late October, our shop is really busy, and we had just moved to a new location in June.
The first southeast regional BikeBike was in Atlanta in Jan. '09 and that was convenient- it was well in the middle of winter, and we didn't have issues leaving the shop for a weekend.

How about contacting Pasqualina at Recycle a Bicycle in NYC to collaborate? They are considering a youth bike educators summit in late January or February.

Id like to add one more request for an off-season date for BikeBike. June is our peak season.
Im sure there are loads of considerations to balance out, and I appreciate San Marcos taking on this huge task.
But I wouldnt want to miss BikeBike for lack of mentioning our concerns.
Thanks!

Is there a wide-spread issue that shops will have to close and lose a lot of 'business' in order to attend Bike!Bike! ? I know the first year we attended
- in Pittsburgh - we ended up closing the shop, but we were only open 2 days
a week and thus only missed one day of operating. Now we have enough volunteers and enough resources that 2 or 3 people can leave for the conference and we can continue to operate during their absence.
either way, Bike!Bike! is such an important learning and sharing and growing experience that smaller shops especially should weigh the benefits of attending, even if it means they have to close for a few days.
Ainsley.
I think it's more of a practical issue for many smaller shops- the summer bike season is in full swing and it seems counter-intuitive to have a gathering right in the middle of the summer, when people are pretty busy in their own communities. Smaller shops usually have less volunteers as well to handle logistics when some are gone. Best to have it as a celebration to end/start the season when shops are less busy.
