insurance for community bike program- workshops, rides, etc.
hello everyone, i am dave baker from the bike works in silver city, new mexico. i am a new addition to this list so i figured i would send out this query and see what ideas everyone has. i am looking for an insurance provider that offers a policy tuned for the type of work we do. we previously had insurance for a retail bike shop but it doesn't apply since retail shop customers generally don't enter the shop space and don't usually use the tools. we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that runs weekly free workshops that are open to the public. we also take kids on a weekly bike ride. in april, we are having a fundraising event in a local city park and the city is requiring that we get liability coverage for the day, which costs around $300. A year long policy would cover special events such as this and make much more sense. i am looking for feedback from other organizations that have dealt with this same issue. thanks, dave
Hi Dave,
There should be all the information you need in the archives. I do not remember how to search the archives.
Take care,

Bike farm uses a company called Zurich. I've attached our policy, you might be able to get the same set up,

hmm,
Does this work?
http://lists.bikecollectives.org/listinfo.cgi/thethinktank-bikecollectives.o...
I get to this by google searching "think tank bike collectives"
then I follow the link "thinktank archives" http://lists.bikecollectives.org/pipermail/thethinktank-bikecollectives.org/
and then I search for insurance. and all the emails on the think tank ever mentioning insurance are pulled up.
Hope that works. -Momoko
