I'm with Falls City Community BikeWorks, a community bike shop in Louisville KY. I was just wondering how you went about getting Americorps involved in your community bike shop/programs? Sounds like a great way to help get some things done!

Usually an organization applies to be the overarching site for AmeriCorps within your state and then organizations such as yours complete proposals to become a host site. You will want to explore whether you want an AmeriCorps versus an AmeriCorps/VISTA member. The allowed duties of each are different and the host site’s financial contribution is different.

Andy, thanks for the info. One more question, so essentially as a "host site" we would have to find some money to make this happen, it is not funded fully by Americorps? Jane
