We are paying a negotiated $350/month for ~1600 sq. ft. of an old auto mechanic shop built into the side of a hill. It's underneath our friends' art warehouse space. We also have a small yard of outside storage for our Earn-A-Bike program, as well as outdoor work space.
Our rate is well below market average/sq. ft. in our area.

Wow. That's amazing. We pay $1.10 per square foot for a ~1,100 sq ft space. Guess that's California for you. We have the option to expand into the back storeroom next door, but we're not sure if we want it/need it.

Oh, just a detail, most real estate agents I've talked with calculate price per square foot based on the annual rent. Hence: $350 * 12 / 1600 = $2.625 price per sq foot.
Best, -Dave
We pay $1750 a month for a storefront space (in a less than sparkley neighbourhood). it's ~1500sq feet (800 main floor and full basement).
This is in Toronto, a city where any house in the downtown area is going to cost you at least half a million dollars. rent and prices for *space* in this city are very expensive.

We (Velocipede Bike Project/Baltimore) pay $100 / month for about 2500 sq. ft. or .48 sq/ft per year. I think our utilities range between $50 and $250 per month depending on the time of year.
We are very lucky. -Noah
Storefront: $800 /month, 780 sq ft. $1.02/sqft. Downtown location, below market price per sq ft. Owned by the city, who worked with us to keep the rent down. Utilities are included (it's CA, climate control isn't a signification cost).
Space is shared with our parent bicycle coalition, they use the other 180 sq ft for an office and our main room for meetings, classes, etc. $400/month is our collective's share of the rent ($0.66/sqft)
See our website below for some photos. We think this is an absolute steal for being in the downtown core and ON our city's main bike blvd.
Storage location $125/month, ~200 sq/ft Rats and all, but great for keeping our piles of junk. Near downtown, also a decent deal for the area.

we pay 1700 a month, cheapest in the city for a store front location. We have two floors with a large basement. One block away from a subway station linking us up with east and west of city.
We had to build our won bathroom!!

Hello! The New Haven Bike Collective has been working out of free spaces for the last 3 years. Right now, we have a deal to get a storefront in barter for teaching clients of a non-profit (liberty safe house a group that houses AIDS/HIV victims). We started in the basement of building that was shared with other non-profits in the area, then after a year moved into the back room of a paint shop, then most recently we have moved to a two car garage and run all our programs out of that, but now that it is cold we are really excited about moving into this swank store front. Would love to talk more about the pro's and con's to working in a donated space. Thanks Cris Founder of New Haven Bike Collective http://newhavenbikecollective.com
