We've been asked what's our secret because other shops have had difficulties between the older and younger staff/volunteers. This workshop would be for those who would like to discuss those issues and hopefully we could provide suggestions how we've managed to succeed where others have failed. The second (2) workshop celebrates our 16+ year history and managing not only to subsist, successfully, but also have managed to remain small. We have also always been all-volunteer. Hey folks, I have set up the 2017 page and added Geoff and Camille as administrators. It's not visible yet but you can start editing the description, add dates, upload a poster, etc. The way I set it up is by organization, so I added the Wrench and the Dump but I wasn't sure if any other orgs will be involved and I wasn't absolutely sure who is with which org. Geoff and Camille, when you get a chance can you add others that will need access to administration? If we need to add new orgs I will still need to do that manually so just let me know, otherwise you can add administrators who are not associated with one of the orgs. To access the administration, just log in, you should see a link to it on your settings page as well as the conferences page. To add administrators, from the conferences page or the conference info page click "Administrate" then "Administrators and Organizations". Whenever you're ready to make it show up on the front page just let me know. We can make it live without the poster and dates but we should probably at least have the description ready before then. Let me know when things become confusing, I'll walk you through it and use that feedback to help make it less confusing. Cheers, godwin

Mexico Scholarships

Hi all, Is there someone in Winnipeg who is going to take over the Mexico scholarships? Jim will still organize from Mexico City. If anyone has questions, I can help. *How it worked last Bike!Bike!* The majority of the funds came from Sacramento ($1,000 USD), AIMS Vancouver ($800 CDN), and Bike Sauce ($2,000 CDN). Bike Sauce ran a separate Bike Build on Friday nights with 80% of the proceeds going to the fund. Bike Sauce will not be able to persuade its membership to support in the same capacity but many Sauciers will donate as individuals. I am not sure what Sacramento or AIMS- Vancouver did to raise funds but I can share their contact information. We could encourage other shops to take the lead and start similar fundraisers. It only takes a few to make a difference but an early start is essential. The rest of the funds were generated with a GoFundme Campaign and shared on facebook with Bike!Bike! and on multiple Detroit ride pages. Donations came from both BikeBike participants and Detroiters. Funds were received by Back Alley Bikes as they have charity status and did not have to pay taxes. Funds were than transferred to Jim in Mexico City. Hey folks, I have just added everyone who attended Bike!Bike! who entered Winnipeg as their location to this organizing list.
