Hey all, I've got some info in response to Geoff B's question from a week back. The Grease Pit has moved into a new building at 2750 Bloomington Ave in South Minneapolis. The opening date has not been set due to a couple of setbacks. Before we can open the doors we have to work out major problems with the heating system and then seal and contain the lead painted walls. Our rent on the space is $550 a month, and though we've worked out a potential work-for-rent deal with our landlord, things are getting tight. free maintenance resources?

Hey gang, I'm a volunteer from Off the Chain, taking a break to go to grad school in Syracuse. I'm in the process of putting together a pathfinder on free bike maintenance resources for a winter biking clinic that I'm giving next month, and I'm interested to know what resources everybody would suggest. The resources don't need to relate to winter biking at all since the handout is meant to be a supplement, to give people list of some of the best places to start learning about bike maintenance. I'm also not interested only in comprehensive resources. If you know of a great resource for a specific topic, I'm happy to hear of it. Also, if anybody has homemade materials that their interested in sharing, I'd be happy to link to them or to host them. When the pathfinder is done I'll post it to the list. thanks, -chris

Seeking Stainless Steel Spokes

We're starting a fund raising project for our shop, Bike Recycle Vermont, that requires as many stainless steel spokes as we can get our hands on. We're working with a local metal artist on turning them into bracelets and more, and we only want to work with used spokes. We've harvested quite a few over the years from taco-ed wheels and whatnot, but we don't do much wheel building in our shop, so we feel okay re-purposing them in order to support our program. If your situation with spokes is similar, we would really love your help. We can send you the postage and packaging for the spokes. We'll take as many as you are willing to send us!
