Contract for Safe Routes to School/Bicycle Educator Essential Duties and Accountabilities: Plan, schedule, perform, and evaluate Safe Routes to School/ bicycle programming including but not limited to; Safe Walking programming, Bike Rodeos, Share the Road presentations, Mountain Bike Skills programming, and Safety/Health Fairs Provide technical assistance and conduct presentations to Albuquerque Public Schools and community organizations concerning alternative means of transportation. Excellent presentation skills in front of large audience required Maintain general up-keep of City of Albuquerque owned bicycle safety equipment and bikes. Provide business license and liability insurance. Have or be able to obtain the League of American Bicyclist LCI certification within 6 months. Be available to work on call including odd hours, weekends and in extreme weather conditions. Possess a valid NM driver’s license and be able to obtain a City of Albuquerque Operator’s Permit. Contract amount not to exceed $38,000.00 /12 months Legal Compliance: This is a Federally Funded project. The contract shall comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws, including, but not limited to laws governing civil rights, equal opportunity compliance, environmental and cultural resource requirements, work place safety, employer-employee relations, and all other laws governing operation of the workplace, including laws and regulations hereafter enacted. The Contract shall be governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico. Interviews will be held prior to selection. We use it and appreciate its power. A bit confusing for database newbies but once you get the SF way of doing things smooth sailing. Love the Mailchimp integration, still looking for PayPal integration (free). Flexible, we use it to track volunteer hours, using notes field we track earn a bike credits. Not perfect but free. The Euro Velo bike paths which were financed by the EU are great. Ideas for hanging baskets and racks

We are having a big shop cleaning party next week. One of the areas that I would like to see us organize better is our Wald style wire baskets and racks. Do any co-ops have ideas on how to hang them in a DIY manner? Pictures would be great and might help more than just our co-op. I think it depends on whether or not your organization can get traction with the city/other groups as just a bike organization (in terms of whether or not this type of activity is "the role" of a CBS). In some communities where there is more hype/presence of biking as a day-to-day activity, I don't think you have to grind as hard as a shop to have your work seen as "legitimate". In Detroit at least, many organizations/folks introduced to BAB for the first time were like, "Oh, you do bikes? That's cute."-- on top of there being broader, unaddressed community needs-- so (at least when I was there) it would've really paid off to multitask if the organization was able (we really rarely were able). I think whether it's an appropriate role for your organization would come down to two questions 1) is this a need in your community that another organization or network of organizations is unable to address without your support 2) does your organization have the resources to do that kind of work sustainably and practically? The main thing that I think any community organization/non-profit can run into is the pressure to be *everything* the constituents or community wants/needs. It's better to focus on what your org has (and can get) the resources to do well, rather than trying to fill every niche/meet every need-- even when there's money on the table. Hi, Do any of your cities engage you as community leaders to help coordinate neighborhood clean up days? Bike collectives have the opportunity to be community and neighborhood centers. Should cities engage us to be more civically involved? Or is that for other non-profits or organization? The first question is what I'd really like to know about. The second is more a philosophical, what is our mission? Thanks for any responses -Momoko
