E-bikes

Hi -- How are bike co-ops dealing with e-bikes? We are all-volunteer at the Bicycle Co-Op of Williamsburg (Virginia). We have several very fine mechanics, but none of us is expert in the motors and batteries of e-bikes, and we don't know whether we should accept them as donations or sell them. ¡Noticias para personas y colectivos interesadas asistir al Bike!Bike! 2025! En mayo se comenzaron las reuniones de la Comisión de «Equidad de viaje»: una propuesta de vínculo solidario que, más allá de las fronteras, busca que el dinero no sea un limitante para quienes buscan participar del evento. El objetivo es, a través de una lógica de apoyo mutuo, facilitar economía y recursos para colectivos de países cuyo cambio no es favorable para asistir. Comenzó como una propuesta de colectivos de Estados Unidos y Canadá con la presencia de algunos grupos de países de Latinoamérica en Detroit (2016), Winnipeg (2017), Los Ángeles (2018) y Tijuana (2019). El primer objetivo es actualizar colaborativamente un relevamiento de colectivos y talleres comunitarios de Latinoamérica y otras regiones. Te invitamos a sumarte con información o participación. The commission is a solidarity group that, beyond borders, is looking for ways to remove money as a barrier of participation for this event. The goal is to use mutual aid to share with collectives coming from countries where these resources are needed the most. This started as a proposal from collectives in the United States and Canada with the presence of groups from Latin America in Detroit (2016), Winnipeg (2017), Los Angeles (2018) and Tijuana (2019). Our first goal is to collaboratively create a survey list of collectives and community shops in Latin America and other regions. Hi everyone, Last Wednesday we had an online meeting to discuss the next Bike Bike with attendance from folks in Mexico City, Texas, Arizona, California, Guadalajara, Argentina, Colombia and Canada . It is the first of several planned meetings to discuss how to better communicate and organize collectively the next Bike Bike gathering(s)in 2025 and as a wide network of bike collectives. Outdoor bike wash

I’m Del Holland, a member of the board of the Bike Library in Iowa City, Iowa, https://icbikelibrary.org/ We are in a process of upgrading our outdoor space, currently concrete in a former warehouse. One amenity I would like to see added is an outdoor bike wash station. We now have a hose bib on the outside of the building. We would like something better. Have any of you got ideas or experience to guide our efforts? Topics we have thought about; Rain water collection as water source Pressure, either gravity or a power washer Bike hang/stand Parts wash Dirt/grit collection Drying area We’d love your insights on these and/or other things to help us design and build a functional and aesthetically pleasing (well maybe that is too much to wish for 😀) bike wash at the Bike Library.
